Moscow Day 1

The long awaited trip, the long awaited St Basil Cathedral. I made a 'deal' with a close friend about visiting St Basil, but seeing how imposible it is to travel together, I took the plunge first. Sorry SL!

*Because this was a trip with a tour group, I did not actually venture into all the places I wanted to, found out about all the things I wanted to, hence there'll be heaps of pictures of what I don't know*

Hello Moscow!! :D

Thought it was pretty nice of them to warn us
*Partially took this picture as their letters are really interesting!*

I did have a little hiccup at the immigration though :(. But that's due to the photo in my passport. It does not look like me I have to say :S. Plus, I think I didn't look my age at that time. LOL. But no troubles - she let me pass in the end after many questions. Not that I blame her - she was only doing her job :).

Our first day in Moscow was basically airport-dinner-hotel. That was it. Not that I was complaining.. I was deadbeat tired on that day after the long flight that all I wanted was a bed.

The modern side of Moscow

Moscow is how the city is known to us, but to the Russians, it is Mockba. That's new to me :). On our way to the restaurant, I had a first glimpse of St Basil Cathedral *grin*. Being me, I couldn't resist myself and ended up taking shots from the bus itself.

*double grin*

Cathedral of Christ The Saviour

We stayed at Renaissance Moscow, which was really pleasant. The beds were big enough, comfy and big pillows and a huge LCD. Need I say more?

Renaissance Moscow

Loved the colours in the room :)

Overall, my first impression of Moscow was it reminded me a lot of Berlin. Perhaps it's the political history of both countries. The Stalin time are still very much present - the buildings built at that time, the 7 Stalin sister buildings. Beautiful nonetheless.
